When Rapid sat down with Paul Stevenson of CES Quarry Products, he knew exactly what he required: a batching plant that would not only meet his needs at this point in time, but which would allow for future expansion and cover all health and safety aspects.
Construction of the plant began with material storage bins of which he required 7 compartments of 70 tonnes. Once Rapid had these in place, each compartment then had two outlets feeding into two weighed belt conveyors by forward and reverse belt feeders. The weighed belt conveyors discharged into 2 inclined conveyors which were going towards two mixer platforms each housing a Rapid R3000 2 door pan mixer. One mixer is now dedicated to ready-to-use mortar and the other to ready-mix concrete and floor screed.
Installing a Rapid Jetwash system into this new plant was very important to CES not only for cutting down on maintenance, water and waste costs but also for health and safety reasons. As this self-contained machine eliminates the need for employees to enter the mixer, the safety risks are radically reduced. CES felt that by having this machine, they were preparing for tighter health and safety laws in the future.
There are many added benefits of the Rapid Jetwash system for CES. The fact that the washout cycle only takes 4 minutes to complete compared to the 1 to 2 hour manual cleaning previously, dramatically improves their production. CES have also found it to be a much more thorough clean than can be achieved manually.
CES are delighted with the results of the new plant from which has resulted in increased concrete production. Four vehicles can now be reversed under the mixers at any one time allowing for the washing of a vehicle prior to despatch while another is being loaded.
