Four decades ago, Bertie Pickering & Jim Lappin established Craigavon Engineering on the outskirts of Portadown, Co. Armagh, Northern Ireland. Working from a small work shop, the partnership initially concentrated on servicing the needs of the agricultural sector, manufacturing link-boxes for tractors and also cattle and pig trailers.

During the first year, enquiries came in for the supply of concrete moulds and vibrating equipment for the pre-cast industry. This prompted the decision to move away from agriculture and concentrate on manufacturing plant for the concrete industry.

Today, the company trades under the name of Rapid International Ltd, and operates from a large, modern factory on the outskirts of Tandragee.
