Rapid International Ltd

Rapid International has just commissioned a new modern high output Readymix Plant for E Moorhouse & Sons Ltd at Egremont, North West Cumbria.

The Managing Director Mr Tony Moorhouse contacted Rapid last autumn about a new batching plant.  There had been an old Cemex Readymix Plant at the site owned by E Moorhouse & Sons Ltd.  Cemex had just taken the decision to close and demolish the old plant and give up the lease.

Still undecided about the design and style of plant required, Tony Moorhouse decided to visit Northern Ireland, where Rapid International provided great help by showing him several batching plants which they had manufactured over the years.  Tony was most impressed by a plant he observed belonging to CE Stevenson, near Belfast, which had two loading positions each fed from a separate door from a single Rapid Pan mixer.  This design enables the next truck mixer to be in position while you are batching into another truck.

Another innovative feature observed during the visit to Northern Ireland was the powerful Rapid Jetwash which completely cleans the Pan mixer within a four minute cycle.  This Jetwash also has a manual lance facility which enables the operator to thoroughly clean around the discharge door and truck loading chute.

The plant supplied by Rapid International contains a host of great design features including stepped access to all major components, including access to the top of the silos.  This has eliminated any need for vertical access ladders which are unsuitable for carrying spare parts or tools.  The control system is the very latest PIL 4000 series using Alan Bradley PLC linked to a modern pc with modem access to provide excellent back up facilities.

Rapid International worked together with E Moorhouse & Sons Ltd to integrate used silos and water storage tanks which helped to reduce the cost of the overall project.  E Moorhouse & Sons Ltd carried out all of the ground works.
The plant has many environmental features including the ability to handle recycled aggregates and recycled water where the mix design permits.
